       Throughout my academic life, one pseudo-intellectual reality has never ceased to amaze me. It would seem that to be a self-respecting American progressive, you must adopt the affectations of cultural self-hate. According to many "liberal" academics, the United States is to blame for nearly every conceivable global ill that has ever taken place.  Many of the older American academics with Marxist leanings have never been able to digest the genocides that were afflicted by Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse-Tung on their respective people. The real evildoers though are the American capitalist pigs."  I am not kidding! Some "progressives" have even questioned the military involvement of the United States in WWII. Pacifism would certainly have defeated the Allied Axis much more humanely than the brutality of the American military-industrial complex. Nice! The weak-minded and tortuous logic let alone the intellectual dishonesty are hallucinatory. 

Show me a country that does not doggedly pursue its self-interests and I'll show you pigs that fly. However, I do believe that the United States stands for a set of universal ideals that has illuminated the world. Within the pantheon of moral and altruisticcivilizations, it is difficult to argue against the preeminent position that the United States would hold in any such ranking. One wonders why otherwise the world's populace has always sought to gain entry into the United States. 

In the warped world of the Ivory Tower, to be pro-American in one's geopolitical orientation is viewed with derision. No "progressive" academic should ever be caught displaying shameless and "vulgar" patriotism. Every American reader whose eyes are scrolling these words should think about the plight of billions of people around the world who do not have the freedoms that he/she takes for granted.

GENERAL MARTIN DEMPSEY: Recently, I received a note from a mother whose daughter is buried at Arlington. She wanted to share some of the things she’d learned at the loss of her daughter.

She learned that the grief never really goes away. At any instant, a smell, a color, a song, a date on the calendar can take you right back to that first, raw moment when everything changed.

She learned that if there’s any secret to grieving, it’s that there can be room for sorrow and joy, sadness and hope to exist in the same space at the same time. 

And she learned that grief is not a lack of faith, nor a sign of weakness.  It is the price of love. 

That love – she says – is yours to hold forever.

Memorial Day is foremost about remembrance, of America’s sons and daughters from every corner of our country, in every branch of service who gave their lives so that we may live free. 

But it’s also about love and about hope.

It gives us – the living – a chance to cherish the freedom we may now hold dear, and embrace the future we may now dare dream.

It gives us the opportunity, all citizens, everywhere, to recommit to our national purpose to secure the blessings of liberty.

Let it also renew a national commitment to usher home the men and women returning to our communities, and firmly stand by those still supporting missions around the globe.

Behind every one of them are their pillars of love and hope at home, a parent, a spouse, a son, a daughter, a community, all doing their part to take care of America. 

So, I’d like to ask all of the family members here and at home to please stand and accept our deepest gratitude for your service.

The United States of America was settled by tough men and very, very strong women. They did it in covered wagons, settling the frontier under very harsh circumstances.  Diseases were rampant, without drugs or doctors. They survived inclement weather, and very little food. But they did not whine or complain. All they wanted was the opportunity to take care of their families. They believed in themselves, and most important in the ONE CREATOR of ALL. They were beholden ONLY TO THE ONE CREATOR OF ALL.

 

When the early settlers came to settle the frontier there were no community organizers, no activists to agitate them toward socialism with the temptations of government handouts. They wanted to do it on their own, to take care of their families. They were fiercely independent hard workers, with individualism, just to take care of their families and themselves. They were BEHOLDEN ONLY TO THE ONE CREATOR OF ALL, AND WERE MIGHTY THANKFUL TO HIM, as my wife and I are.

Thankfully there were no community organizers/agitators/anarchists to inundate them with a radical left message. These pioneers were fiercely independent and individualistic, they would take care of their families themselves. They understood no one can take care of you as well as you can take care of yourself. They passed this heritage on to future generations and now sadly we seem to be giving away their legacy. SAD

My name is Michelle Root, my daughter Sarah Rae Ann Root, was killed January 31st, 2016 by an illegal alien who was drunk driving (BAC .241) and street racing (70+ MPH). Sarah had just graduated (January 30th, 2016) with a 4.0 bachelor's degree in Criminal Investigations and while stopped at a stop light she was rear-ended by Edwin (Eswin) Mejia, a 19-year-old Illegal Honduran, who came to this country illegally and unaccompanied at age 16. He had several priors, failure to appear, driving the wrong way down a one-way street, no driver's license, child endangerment and no proof of insurance. His bond was set at $50,000 and he posted $5,000 on February 5th, 2016 and hasn't been seen since.

Sarah was a 21-year-old with her whole life ahead of her, she was full of life and was so excited to start the next chapter in her life. She is loved and missed dearly by her friends and family.

No matter how hard I fight it will never bring my beautiful daughter back but I will continue to fight so people can be educated on our Immigration Policies, the devastation that is caused by not following our Immigration Laws, to honor my daughter and to help others that have gone through this preventable tragedy.

Between June 1, 2011 and December 31, 2018, these 186,000 illegal aliens were charged with more than 292,000 criminal offenses which included arrests for 539 homicide charges; 32,443 assault charges; 5,695 burglary charges; 36,840 drug charges; 395 kidnapping charges; 15,859 theft charges; 23,487 obstructing police charges; 1,650 robbery charges; 3,428 sexual assault charges; 2,152 sexual offense charges; and 2,949 weapon charges. DPS criminal history records reflect those criminal charges have thus far resulted in over 120,000 convictions including 238 homicide convictions; 13,559 assault convictions; 3,138 burglary convictions; 17,806 drug convictions; 173 kidnapping convictions; 7,064 theft convictions; 11,264 obstructing police convictions; 1,011 robbery convictions; 1,689 sexual assault convictions; 1,148 sexual offense convictions; and 1,280 weapon convictions.

Those who voted for Mr. Trump, and will vote for his candidates worry about the nation, not its image. The President deserves our respect because Americans deserve it—not such fancy-pants extras as network commentators, socialist high-school teachers and eminent professors, but the basic human stuff that has made America great, and is making us greater all the time.
